Box Score

LANCASTER, PA - The ninth-ranked Johns Hopkins women's soccer team got a pair of first-half goals from sophomore Erica Suter (Ellicott City, MD/River Hill) and outshot host Franklin & Marshall 24-2 en route to a 3-0 Centennial Conference victory on Wednesday afternoon. The win is the ninth straight for the Blue Jays, who improve to 11-2 overall and 6-0 in the Centennial Conference, while the Diplomats slip to 3-11 overall and 1-5 in the Centennial.

The Blue Jays got all the offense they would need before halftime as they buried there of their 11 first-half shots. Suter book-ended the three-goal spree with her fifth and sixth goals of the season. She opened the scoring with an unassisted goal in the 18th minute when she controlled a ball in the box and side-stepped F&M goalie Katie Golding and a defender before sliding home what proved to be her fourth game-winning goal of the season.

Junior Jessica Hnatiuk (Baltimore, MD/John Carroll), who was recently named the Centennial Conference Offensive Player of the Week for her efforts in last Saturday's 4-1 win over Gettysburg, netted her third goal in the last two games when she struck less than five minutes after Suter's opening salvo. Golding came off her line and punched out a corner kick, but Hnatiuk collected the rebound and scored to make it 2-0.

Hopkins closed the scoring less than two minutes before halftime when junior Allie Zazzali (Scotch Plains, NJ/Scotch Plains-Fanwood) sent a perfect cross through the box and Suter one-timed a shot into the top corner to make it 3-0.

Golding posted eight saves in goal for the Diplomats, including five in the second half when she kept the Blue Jays off the board despite facing 13 shots.

Johns Hopkins, which extended its regular season unbeaten streak in Centennial Conference play to 23 games (22-0-1), returns to action on Saturday, October 17 when the Blue Jays host Muhlenberg at 7 pm at Homewood Field.
