With the win, Hopkins improves to 2-1 overall and 1-0 in the conference, while Ursinus falls to 2-1 and 0-1 in the Centennial.
The first half saw a lot of back and forth action with six lead changes and seven tied scores. The Blue Jays jumped out to an early 7-0 lead thanks to 3-pointers by senior Leslie Markun (Mill Valley, CA/The Branson School) and sophomore Chantel Mattiola (Trappe, PA/Perkiomen Valley).
The lead would not last, however, as Ursinus would tie the score at 10-10. Neither team would lead by more than four points for the remainder of the half. The Blue Jays entered the locker room at half-time trailing 29-27.
After two good free throws by Ursinus' Alli Rosati, the Blue Jays would take the lead just 1:11 into the second half and never look back. Wynn would hit a jumper followed by two 3-pointers to put Hopkins ahead, 35-31, just 2:24 into the half. Wynn would hit three 3-pointers in the half.
Hopkins would have its biggest lead of the day, 18, with 8:01 left on the clock and the scoreboard showing 63-45. The closest the Bears would get to catching to the Blue Jays would be six points with 1:04 remaining in the game. The Blue Jays would go 6-8 from the free-throw line in the final minute to close the door on Ursinus.
All ten Blue Jays that hit the floor recorded at least two points in the game. Junior Lyndsay Burton (Long Valley, NJ/West Morris Central) led all scorers on the day with 17 total points. She also collected 9 rebounds. Wynn scored 16 points and recorded four steals.
Ursinus was led by a trio of 15-point scorers. Senior Carolyn Konstanzer, sophomore Lindsay Teuber, and freshman Alli Rosati all had 15 points. Rosati collected the double-double with 11 rebounds in the game.
