GETTYSBURG, PA - The Johns Hopkins women's basketball team was defeated, 56-34, by the Bullets of Gettysburg at Bream Gym. Senior Allie Drechsler of Gettysburg led all scorers with 13 points, going 3-5 from 3-point range, in the contest. With the loss, the Blue Jays fall to 3-2 overall and 1-1 in the Centennial Conference. Gettysburg remains undefeated at 4-0 and opens conference play with a victory.

Hopkins held its only lead of the game, 4-2, at 18:42 after a pair of free throws by senior Leslie Markun (Mill Valley, CA/The Branson School). Markun scored all seven of her points in the first half. The Bullets would go on a 15-2 run over the next ten minutes to take a 17-6 lead and they would never look back. This lead would grow to 19 by the end of the first half, with Gettysburg leading 36-17. The Blue Jays never cut the lead to less than 19 in the second half. The largest lead of the game for the Bullets would be 28 points.

Gettysburg was 22-60 (36.7%) from the floor and 6-18 (33.3%) from beyond the arc. Hopkins, however, only shot 13-50 (26.0%) on field goals and 2-15 (13.3%) from 3-point range. The Bullets had an impressive 22 steals in the contest. The Blue Jays kept up their strong rebounding by out-rebounding the Bullets 40 to 38.

Lyndsay Burton (Long Valley, NJ/West Morris Central) led the Blue Jays in scoring with 10 points. Burton also had six steals which ties her career-high. Gettysburg junior Caitlin Moser drained five baskets for 10 points and sophomores Lauren Dadigan and Julie McGrory had eight points each.

The Blue Jays look to return to their winning ways when they host the Garnet of Swarthmore on Thursday night. Game time is set for 7:00 pm.
