GRANTHAM, PA - The Johns Hopkins women's basketball team road woes continue at # 18 Messiah College as the Falcons defeat the Blue Jays, 65-43. With the loss, the Blue Jays fall to 4-4 on the season and 1-3 on the road while Messiah improves to 6-0.

The Blue Jays went the first six minutes of the game without a field goal, but 10 points in the next four minutes would give Hopkins a 14-10 lead halfway through the first stanza. A five minute scoring drought, however, would open the door for Messiah who answered scoring 10 points in those five minutes. The Falcons took a 28-19 lead into the locker room at halftime. The Falcons were 13-25 (.520) shooting in the first half.

The second half saw more of the same from the Falcons as they continued their strong shooting, going 12-21 (.571) in the half and 25-46 (.543) in the game. The rims were not has friendly for the Blue Jays as they were 15-52 (.288) from the floor for the night.

Messiah's halftime lead grew throughout the second half as they outscored the Blue Jays by 13 in the second half and 22 in the game. Junior Michele Schleich and freshman Dori Gyori each had 13 points in the game for the Falcons. Gyori also grabbed 11 rebounds for the double-double. Senior Julie Henninger drained 12 points as well for Messiah.

Senior Lyndsay Burton (Long Valley, NJ/West Morris Central) led the Blue Jays with 12 points. Junior Nia Josiah (Frederick, MD/Gov. Thomas Johnson) sunk a career-high 11 points in the contest. The Blue Jays were 13-16 (.813) from the free-throw line.

The Blue Jays return to action after the New Year on January 4 when they host the Green Terror of McDaniel in a Centennial Conference match. Game time is set for 7:00 pm.
