BALTIMORE, MD - Visiting McDaniel used a 17-4 run to open the second half to pull away from Johns Hopkins and the Blue Jays never recovered in a 66-54 loss Wednesday night. The Blue Jays fall to 12-12 on the season and 7-10 in the Centennial Conference, while the Green Terror improves to 18-6 overall and 13-4 in the conference. Senior Collin Kamm (Avon, NJ/Saint Rose) picked up two assists in the loss to become just the fourth player in program history with 500 points, 200 assists and 100 steals for his career.

McDaniel came out firing to start the game with a 16-4 run as the Green Terror went 8-of-12 from the floor in the opening six minutes. Trailing by 12 at 16-4, senior Scott Weisenfeld (Mt. Kisco, NY/Horace-Greeley) drained a pull-up jumper and then Kamm converted an old-fashioned three-point play to make it a seven-point game with 12:32 remaining. The game went back-and-forth for the next nine minutes as Hopkins could get no closer. The Blue Jays closed out the half on a strong note, as they rallied to cut an 11-point deficit to six at the break. Down by 11 after a Michael Jarboe triple with 1:55 to play, freshman Tim McCarty (Warrington, PA/Germantown Academy) hit a three from the top of the key, followed by a pair of Pat O'Connell (Baltimore, MD/Loyola Blakefield) free throws.

Coming out of the half, it was all McDaniel as the Green Terror methodically turned a six-point lead into a 19-point margin over the opening 8:34, while holding the Blue Jays to just two field goals. Down 58-39 with 9:51 remaining, McCarty hit a layup in the paint and then converted the free throw after a Chad Arrington foul, igniting a 13-2 run. Junior Andrew Farber-Miller (Charlottesville, VA/St. Anne's-Belfield) went six-of-six from the charity stripe to help fuel the run. McDaniel responded with a 6-2 run to put the game away.

Farber-Miller was the only Blue Jay in double figures, finishing with 12 points, two blocks and five rebounds. Josh McKay scored a game and career-high 28 points for McDaniel and 12 boards for a double-double. He was the only Green Terror player in double figures.

After shooting 50.0 percent from the field in the first half, Hopkins shot just 28.6 percent in the second. McDaniel also had the hot hand in the first, shooting 51.7 percent from the floor, compared to just 37.9 percent in the second. The Green Terror won the battle of the boards, 36-25 and forced 14 Blue Jay turnovers.

It is the first time since the 1994-95 season that the Blue Jays have been swept by the Green Terror. Hopkins will miss the Centennial Conference playoffs for the first time since 2002.

Hopkins wraps up the season at Washington College on Saturday, February 21 in the 121st meeting in the series that dates back to 1927-28. Tip off from the Cain Athletic Center is scheduled for 4:00 pm.
