SALISBURY, MD - The Johns Hopkins volleyball team loss to Virginia Wesleyan, 3-0 and Salisbury, 3-1, Friday night. The Blue Jays are competing in the Sea Gull Invitational hosted by Salisbury.
JHU, now 10-4, fell to Virginia Wesleyan in its first match 25-18, 25-16 and 25-18. Melissa Cole (Walnut, CA) and Allison Cappelaere (Ellicott City, MD) led the Blue Jays in kills (five), while Amelia Thomas (Baltimore, MD) recorded a team-high in digs (seven). Becky Paynter (Columbia, MD) dished out 15 assists.
Salisbury defeated Hopkins in its second match 25-10, 22-25, 25-20 and 25-22. Alex Zenoff (San Francisco, CA) posted nine kills, while Cappelaere led the Blue Jays in digs (16). Paynter recorded 27 assists in a losing effort.
The Blue Jays return to the court at 10 am tomorrow to face Goucher.
