ALLENTOWN, PA - The eighth-ranked Johns Hopkins women's soccer team fell to host Muhlenberg, 2-1, on Saturday afternoon in Centennial Conference play. The Blue Jays drop to 11-3 (5-2 CC) with the loss, while the Mules improve to 5-6-2 (4-2 CC).
Freshman CJ Graetzer put the Mules on top 1-0 in the 19th minute. Graetzer lofted a shot from about 30 yards from goal over the outstretched hands of Blue Jay goalkeeper Kristen Redsun to give Muhlenberg the early lead.
Senior Allie Zazzali knotted the game at 1-1 in the 27th minute on a penalty kick. The goal was Zazzali's team-leading seventh of the season.
Muhlenberg was also awarded a penalty kick just over 10 minutes later, with junior Nicolette Miller converting what would prove to be the game-winner.
The Blue Jays held the edge on the stat sheet, with a 31-11 advantage in shots and 12-1 in corner kicks.
Hopkins returns to Homewood Field on Wednesday, October 20 to host third-ranked College of New Jersey at 7 pm.
