BALTIMORE, MD - The Johns Hopkins women's soccer team scored early and often to roll past Bryn Mawr in Centennial Conference action on Saturday afternoon. The Blue Jays improve to 13-3 (6-2 CC), while the Owls fall to 3-12 (0-9 CC).
Senior Allie Zazzali started the Blue Jay scoring in the 7th minute, notching her eighth goal of the year to give Hopkins a 1-0 lead. Junior Erica Suter then reeled off three goals in a 10 minute span to give Hopkins a 4-0 advantage, with the first one coming in the 15th minute, unassisted. Zazzali fed Suter to give the Blue Jays a 3-0 lead in the 24th minute, before senior Erin Stafford assisted on Suter's third goal less than a minute later.
Freshman Kelly Baker notched her third goal of the season in the 32nd minute to give Hopkins a 5-0 lead and round out the Blue Jay scoring in the first half.
Junior Ava Scheininger found the back of the net for Hopkins for the first time this season in the 58th minute off assists from freshman Pamela Vranis and senior Sara Tankard. Scheininger scored again 15 minutes later in the 73rd minute off a feed from freshman Christina Convey.
Senior Sara Tankard completed the Blue Jays scoring with just over 10 minutes remaining, tallying her third goal of the season.
Freshman Kelly Leddy played the entire 90 minutes at goalkeeper for Hopkins and recorded one save and her first career win. Rebecca Joseph and Danyelle Phillips split time between the pipes for the Owls and recorded nine and 14 saves, respectively.
Hopkins travels to Westminster, MD on Wednesday, October 27 to face McDaniel at 3:30 pm in Centennial Conference action.
