GETTYSBURG, PA - The Johns Hopkins volleyball team dropped a back-and-forth battle at Gettysburg, 3-2 (23-25, 25-20, 19-25, 25-15, 10-15), on Wednesday night in Centennial Conference action. The Blue Jays fall to 10-11 overall and 3-2 in conference matches, while the Bullets improve to 11-11 overall and 3-2 in the conference.
Hopkins had strong contributions from several players, as four different players recorded double-digit kills and three players tallied double-digit digs. Junior Melissa Cole posted her 10th double-double of the year with a 14 kills and 23 digs to lead the Blue Jays. Sophomore Becky Paynter also notched her 10th double-double of the season with 49 assists and 13 digs.
Senior KC Stingl tallied 14 kills, while classmate Brittany Zimmer and sophomore Carolyn Mickelson also reached double-digit kills with 10 apiece. Senior Alica Diehl recorded a team-high 28 digs.
The Bullets were led by freshman Lizzy Kuhn, who nearly posted a triple-double with 42 assists, 15 digs and nine kills. Junior Virginia Hogan added 17 kills and 16 digs, while junior Rebecca Rubenstein notched a match-high 33 digs for Gettysburg.
The Blue Jays return home on Tuesday, October 12 to host conference opponent Franklin & Marshall at 7 pm in Goldfarb Gym.
