GETTYSBURG, PA - The 10th-ranked Johns Hopkins women's soccer team notched a pair of second-half goals to defeat Gettysburg, 2-0, on Saturday night in Centennial Conference action. Hopkins improves to 10-2 (4-1 CC) with the win, while Gettysburg drops to 7-5 (3-2 CC).
Junior Erica Suter got the Blue Jays on the board in the 56th minute, scoring her sixth goal of the season. Senior Jessica Hnatiuk sent a free kick from about 40 yards from goal into the box and Suter headed home what would prove to be the game-winner.
Freshman Christina Convey gave Hopkins a 2-0 lead with just under a minute remaining in the game, tallying her sixth goal of the season on a penalty kick.
JHU held the advantage in shots (19-6) and corners (8-3). Junior Kristen Redsun and sophomore Meredith Maguire each played a half in goal for Hopkins, recording one and two saves, respectively. Gettysburg junior goalkeeper Allie Rivera totaled eight saves in the loss.
The 10th-ranked Blue Jays return home on Wednesday, October 13 to host Franklin & Marshall in a Centennial Conference matchup.
