HAVERFORD, PA - The Johns Hopkins volleyball team fell to Franklin & Marshall, 3-2 (10-25, 25-23, 25-20, 21-25, 14-16), in the Centennial Conference semifinals on Saturday afternoon in Haverford, PA. The Blue Jays see their season come to an end with a 19-12 record, while the Diplomats are now 21-6 and advance to the conference finals.
Junior Melissa Cole recorded 16 kills and 16 digs to lead Hopkins, while classmate Sarah Feicht also notched double-digit kills with 12. Sophomore Becky Paynter tallied 48 assists and senior Alica Diehl totaled a team-high 22 digs in the loss.
Senior Pam Horner led the way for the Diplomats, recording 52 assists, 16 digs and five kills. Sophomore Kerry Rom notched a team-best 14 kills and also tallied a double-double with 13 digs.
Hopkins saw its nine-match winning streak and season come to an end on Saturday afternoon. The Diplomats will face off against fourth-seeded Haverford in the championship match on Sunday. The Fords upset top-seeded Swarthmore, 3-2, in the first semifinal.
