BALTIMORE, MD - Junior Sean Coleman (Lee, NH/Exeter/UNH) finally ended the game in the 100th minute off a free kick to give Johns Hopkins a 1-0 win over McDaniel in a torrential downpour at Homewood Field Thursday night. The Blue Jays improve to 7-2-2 overall and 1-1-1 in the Centennial Conference, while the Green Terror slip to 4-6-0 and 1-2-0 in the conference. Coleman's goal ended a scoreless streak that had reached more than 368 minutes for the Blue Jays.

Hopkins attacked early and often, as senior Scott Bukoski (Sagamore, MA/Bourne) nearly put one home in just the third minute off a flick but the shot hit the post and then Coleman's follow-up went just wide. Things got dicey in the 60th minute when the skies opened up and the heavy rain began. Soon after, puddles began forming on the turf and play slowed down.

Coleman had another great chance in the 88th minute on a low, hard shot that he snuck through the legs of goalie Zach Nibbelink but Matthew Gillen was there to clear the ball off the line and out of danger. Coleman finally struck pay dirt in the 100th minute when he was taken down in transition about 30 yards from goal, setting up a Hopkins free kick. He took the honors and ended the game when he bent a low shot around the Green Terror wall, just past the outstretched hands of Nibbelink and inside the right post.

Senior goalie Ravi Gill (Morganville, NJ/Marlboro) finished with five saves in the shutout, while Nibbelink did his best to keep the Terror in the game with 10 saves. Hopkins had a significant edge in shots (28-7) and corners (11-1).

The Blue Jays return to action on Saturday night under the lights as the Muhlenberg Mules visit Homewood. Game time is set for 8:00 pm.
