HAVERFORD, PA - The #5 Johns Hopkins women's soccer team extended its winning streak and is now the only unbeaten team in the Centennial Conference with its 5-1 win over Haverford, Saturday afternoon. Coming into the game, both the Blue Jays and the Fords had not suffered a loss this season.
The Blue Jays improve to 13-0 on the year and 6-0 in the Centennial while the Fords move to 8-1-4 overall and 3-1-2 in the CC.
Sophomore Kylie Fuller got the Blue Jays on the board first in the 7th minute taking possession of the ball inside the box and shooting the ball inside the left post for her first goal of the season.
Keeping her now team-leading streak of consecutive games with a goal, freshman Hannah Kronick took a pass from sophomore Pamela Vranis and put the Blue Jays up 2-0. Kronick's goal proved to be her fifth game winning goal of the season. The freshman has scored at least one point in every game she has played in for Hopkins and is currently riding a 12 game streak for points and eight game run for goals.
Sophmore Kelly Baker took a pass from senior Erica Suter deep in the box and beat the goalie to net her second goal of the season and give the Blue Jays some breathing room in the 36th minute.
The Blue Jays would lead 3-0 at the half.
Freshman Maria Touloumes scored her first goal of the season the season to push the lead for the Blue Jays to 4-0. Senior Paulina Goodman netted the final tally for Hopkins in the 68th minute to give the visitors a 5-0 lead.
The Ford got one back just under seven minutes later cut the lead to 5-1 but could not establish any more offense and eventually fell to the Blue Jays, 5-1.
Senior Kristen Redsun got the win for Hopkins in the net facing eight shots and making two saves in the victory.
Johns Hopkins looks to extend its winning streak to 14 games when the Blue Jays welcome CC foe, Dickinson next Wednesday to Homewood Field for a 7 pm game.
