Box Score

BALTIMORE, MD - Freshman Meagan Donohoe set a school match record as she led the Johns Hopkins volleyball team to a 3-0 win over Centennial Conference opponent Dickinson, Tuesday night by game scores of 25-9, 25-15, 25-15.

With the win tonight, the Blue Jays guarantee themselves a spot in the CC Tournament that is set to begin the first week of November.

Hopkins extends its winning streak to seven matches and have won the first seven conference matches this season for the best start to conference action since 2002. Hopkins is now 17-4 on the season and a perfect 7-0 in the CC while Dickinson falls to 3-16 with a 1-6 conference record.

Donohoe led the Blue Jays hitting .923 on the evening, 12 for 13 with no errors, which breaks the previous school record of .909 (10 for 11) that was set in 1996 by Sue Yang.

Hopkins set the tone for the match early with a 25-9 win to open that featured Donohoe on the attack, as she was a perfect seven-for-seven from the right side. The Blue Jays jumped out to an early 10-6 lead and continued to power its way to a first set win.

The Red Devils pulled themselves to within three points late in the second set, 18-15, but Hopkins pulled away with seven straight points to take the set, 25-15.

In the third and final set, the Red Devils held an early 5-2 lead but the Blue Jays chipped away and battled back-and-forth with Dickinson until the score was tied at six a piece. After a kill from freshman Jennifer Huh, the Blue Jays took the lead for good and ran away with a 25-15 victory.

As a team, the Blue Jays hit an impressive .467 (36 for 60) and collected 13 service aces while the defense held the Red Devils to a .145 hitting percentage (18 for 55). Freshman Mariel Metalios handed out a match-high 22 assists and had four aces.

Johns Hopkins returns to the court when the Blue Jays kick off a three-match road trip starting with cross-town opponent, Notre Dame (MD) on Thursday, October 20 with the match time set for 7 pm.
