BRYN MAWR, PA - The Johns Hopkins volleyball team rolled to its ninth straight win and its thirteenth sweep Saturday afternoon with a 3-0 win over Centennial Conference opponent, Byrn Mawr. The Blue Jays won the match with set scores of 25-18, 25-12, 25-16.
Hopkins is now 19-4 on the season and 8-0 in the Centennial while the Owls fall to 9-15 overall with a 3-5 CC slate.
The Blue Jay defense held Byrn Mawr to just a .092 hitting percentage as a team while Hopkins hit .264.
Senior Melissa Cole and freshman Katie Schwarz led the offense with seven kills each while junior Becky Paynter had a match-high five service aces in three sets. Schwarz and freshman Anne Cohen collected 11 digs each for the Blue Jays.
Freshman Mariel Metalios handed out 14 assists while Paynter added 11 of her own.
Johns Hopkins returns to the court when the Blue Jays travel to Westminster, MD to take on the McDaniel in a 7 pm game on October 26.
