COLLEGEVILLE, PA - Six different Blue Jays scored as the #5 Johns Hopkins women's soccer team used its second highest goal total of the season to shut out Ursinus 6-0 in Centennial Conference soccer action, Saturday afternoon.
The Blue Jays remain perfect on the season, sitting at 11-0 and 6-0 in the CC while Ursinus falls to 4-7-1 overall and 2-4-1 in the conference.
Freshman Hannah Kronick started the first half scoring flurry early into the game netting her 11th goal of the season in the second minute taking a pass from senior Paulina Goodman to put the Blue Jays up, 1-0.
Sophomore Kelly Baker scored her second goal of the season in the 16th minute to start a three-goal run over the next 12 minutes. Baker took an unassisted shot in front of the net to push the Blue Jay lead to 2-0. Senior Erica Suter scored just four minutes later to extend the lead taking a one timer into the back of the net. Freshman Sydney Teng took a volley from Kronick to net her fourth goal of the season and increase Hopkins' lead to 4-0 in just the 28th minute of the game. With less than seven minutes to go in the half, Teng returned the favor and sent a pass into the middle of the box for sophomore Pamela Vranis to put in the back of the net to give the Blue Jays a 5-0 lead going into the break.
Hopkins scored its last goal of the game in the 63rd minute as senior Christina Convey took a pass from Goodman through the middle to beat the goalie and give the Blue Jays a 6-0 win.
The Blue Jays outshot the Bears 20-6, with 16 of them coming in the first half. Senior Kristen Redsun and Kelly Leddy split time in the net for the Blue Jays each making two saves in the shutout. Saturday's win was the eighth shutout of the year for the Blue Jays and they are now outscoring opponents 46-5.
Johns Hopkins returns to action when the Blue Jays travel to Ewing, NJ to take on The College of New Jersey on Wednesday, October 12 with game time set for 7 pm.
