WASHINGTON, D.C. - The Johns Hopkins volleyball faced one of its compatible opponents this season when the Blue Jays traveled to Washington, D.C. to face off against Gallaudet. After a very competitive game, the Blues Jay came out on top, 3-1, Thursday evening.
The Blue Jays defeated the Bison with scores of 25-10, 25-18, 18-25, 25-22, their first four-set match in the last four matches. JHU pushed its record to 9-3, while Gallaudet fell to 8-4. Going into the match, each team was riding a three-match winning streak, not dropping a set over the three matches.
Senior outside hitter Melissa Cole once again dominated on the court with a match-high 12 kills. She is the first Blue Jay to surpass 100 kills on the year, pushing her total to 111. Cole also served two aces, her thirteenth and fourteenth of the year.
Freshman Meagan Donohoe continued her outstanding start to her time as a Blue Jay, Donohue added eight kills and served a match-high three aces. Classmate Mariel Metalios handed out 26 assists on the evening to help the Blue Jays to their fourth-straight win.
Johns Hopkins will return to the court on Saturday, September 24 when the Blue Jays return to Goldfarb Gym to host Centennial Conference opponent, Muhlenberg at 1 pm.
