OWINGS MILLS, MD - The Johns Hopkins volleyball team fell to non-conference opponent, Stevenson. Tuesday evening for its first loss in the last six matches. The Blue Jays fell to the Mustangs in three games by scores of 28-26, 25-22, 25-16,
The Blue Jays are now 10-4 on the season while Stevenson improved to 15-3.
After a hard fought battle in which the Blue Jays brought the Mustangs to within game point three times, the Blue Jays eventually fell 28-26 in the first set. The Mustangs jumped out to an early lead in the first set and the Blue Jays could not recover.
The Mustangs would slip past the Blue Jays in the next two sets, 25-22 and 25-16, to take the match 3-0.
Senior Melissa Cole had a team-high 10 kills and a match-high 21 digs. Freshman Mariel Metalios added a team high 25 assists and 15 digs. Cole led the JHU defense with 21 digs over the three sets.
Johns Hopkins returns to the court when it travels to Frederick, MD to face Hood in non-conference play on Thursday, Sept. 29 at 7 pm.
