CARLISLE, PA - Kelly Baker's eighth minute goal was all the No. 22 Johns Hopkins team needed to narrowly defeat Dickinson, 1-0, in Carlisle, PA Wednesday night.
The game-winning strike was Baker's fifth goal in the last five games, which is the fourth longest streak in Hopkins history. The Blue Jays improved to 6-1 in conference play, as they control their own destiny in the battle for the top seed in the conference.
Hopkins' lone goal came at the hands of Dickinson goalkeeper Annie Weichert, who gave up a rebound on an Issy Berkey shot. The rebound promptly fell to Baker for the easy goal.
The Blue Jays' Meredith Maguire had an eventful night in net, making seven saves to earn her 10th career shutout and fourth of the season. Weichert, meanwhile, made nine saves for the Red Devils.
Hopkins can take a further step towards earning the first seed in the conference with a victory against Bryn Mawr on Saturday at Homewood Field.
