Box Score

SWARTHMORE, PA - Top-seeded and host Swarthmore scored three goals in a span of just over 10 minutes to defeat Johns Hopkins, 3-0, in the Centennial Conference semifinals Saturday night at Clothier Field. The Blue Jays see their season end at 8-8-2, marking the 20th straight year that they have finished at .500 or better.

After a scoreless first 36 minutes that saw the Blue Jays just miss on the offensive end, the Garnet got on the scoreboard on a goal by Jack Momeyer. David Geschwind got things going, playing a nice through pass to Momeyer, who then slid it under sophomore keeper Nick Cerrone in the 37th minute. Hopkins came right back down the field and got a pair of shots from freshman Ian Heinrich but both missed the target. Swarthmore answered with its second goal of the game just over a minute later when Wyatt McCall chipped a perfectly placed shot over Cerrone after a setup from Momeyer.

The Garnet wasted little time in adding to their lead in the second half as McCall notched his second goal of the night in the 47th minute. Noah Sterngold had the helper on McCall's second strike.

Swarthmore finished with a 17-15 advantage in shots while Hopkins had seven corners to five for the Garnet. Cerrone finished with four saves in the loss, while Peter Maxted made three to earn the shutout. Cerrone made 10 saves in two tournament games, the most by a Blue Jay keeper in a single Centennial Conference Tournament.
