BALTIMORE, MD - Alita Zabrecky tallied 19 points and 10 rebounds to lead Muhlenberg past the Johns Hopkins women's basketball team, 49-43, Saturday afternoon in Goldfarb Gym.

Hopkins (4-7, 2-5 CC) managed to cut the Muhlenberg lead to three points, 42-39, with seven minutes remaining, but a Zabrecky layup and a Julie Kelly 3-pointer extended the Mules' advantage to an insurmountable eight points.

Muhlenberg (6-2, 4-1 CC) had the lead throughout the contest, as it opened the match with a 9-2 burst on six points from Zabrecky. Trailing by as many as nine points in the first half, Stacy Fairey willed the Blue Jays back into contention by knocking down three 3-pointers in a span of five minutes. Muhlenberg led at the break, 22-20.

Hopkins tied the match, 22-22, at the start of the second half, but the Mules answered with four Zabrecky points. Freshman Katie Clark then knocked down two consecutive 3-pointers to close the Hopkins deficit to one point, 32-31, before Muhlenberg pulled away in the final seven minutes.

The Blue Jays were content to shoot from beyond the arc, launching 23 3-pointers and connecting on a season-high seven. Fairey was 4-for-9 from 3-point land, and totaled 12 points. Senior Alex Vassila had a game-high 14 rebounds, while Sarah Higbee had four blocks.

Hopkins will not return to action until January 2 when it travels to Grantham, PA to take on Messiah, currently ranked eighth in the nation.
