BALTIMORE, MD - The Johns Hopkins men's soccer team scored a pair of second-half goals and shut out visiting Haverford, 2-0, in both teams' Centennial Conference opener at Homewood Field Sunday afternoon. The Blue Jays improve to 3-2-0 overall, while the Fords slip to 3-3-0.

After a scoreless first half, senior Nick White finally got the home team on the board in the 60th minute with his team-leading third goal of the season. Junior Danny Reategui crossed the ball from the left touchline to the box, where White headed it home at the far post. In the 73rd minute, Josh Hong gave the Blue Jays some cushion with his first career goal. Sophomore Kotaro Mitsuhashi dribbled up the left side and fired a hard, low shot on the Fords' goal. Andriy Mshanetskyy was able to get a glove on it, but Hong was there to clean up the rebound at the right post, slipping it in to put Hopkins on top 2-0.

Sophomore Nick Cerrone finished with five saves in his third shutout of the season, while Mshanetskyy made a pair of stops for the Fords. Haverford had more shots (15-11) and corners (9-0).

Hopkins returns to action on Wednesday, September 19 as the Blue Jays travel up I-83 to renew their rivalry with the York College Spartans. Game time from Graham Field is slated for 4:00 pm.
