Muhlenberg Shuts Out Johns Hopkins, 2-0

ALLENTOWN, PA - The host Muhlenberg men's soccer team got a goal in each half en route to a 2-0 win over Johns Hopkins in Centennial Conference action Saturday night at Varsity Field. The Blue Jays fall to 3-4-0 overall and 1-1-0 in the conference, while the Mules improve to 5-1-0 overall and 2-0-0 in the league.

Muhlenberg got on the board in the 37th minute when Chris Royer played a ball into the box from the left side and Danny Way headed it just inside the far post for his second of the season. Cody Antonini, the 2009 CC Player of the Year, gave the home team an insurance goal in the 62nd minute. He beat a Blue Jay defender and fired a shot from in tight past sophomore Nick Cerrone.

Muhlenberg out shot Hopkins, 25-6, and had 10 corners to just three for the Blue Jays. Cerrone did his best to keep the Blue Jays in the game, making a career-high 13 saves. His counterpart, Jas Chojnowski made a pair of saves in the shutout for the Mules.

Hopkins returns to action on Thursday, September 27 against Gettysburg in a game that was originally scheduled for Wednesday, September 26. The Centennial Conference tilt is slated to start at 4:00 pm at Homewood Field.
