BALTIMORE, MD - The Johns Hopkins volleyball team used an 11-0 run midway through the second set and never looked back as it swept Swarthmore (25-19, 25-18, 25-20) Saturday in Goldfarb Gym.
The Blue Jays notched a season-high .342 hitting percentage, while senior Becky Paynter dished a season-high 30 assists. Hopkins (18-1, 3-0) has beaten the Garnet 20 consecutive times.
Hopkins used a .371 hitting percentage to comfortably win the first set, before posting a 15-3 run to close out the second set. The home side then opened up a 19-11 lead in the third set and won 25-20 to complete the sweep.
The trio of Jasmine Warmington, Caitlin Callihan and Hayley Weidenbenner combined for 36 kills for the Blue Jays and Katie Schwarz had a team-high 18 digs. Swarthmore (10-3, 2-2), meanwhile, was held to a .143 hitting percentage.
The Blue Jays have won 21 consecutive matches in Goldfarb Gym and 17 straight regular season conference matches.
Hopkins returns to the court October 3 at 7:00 pm in Lancaster, PA to take on conference foe Franklin & Marshall.
