BALTIMORE, MD - Sophomore Caitlin Callihan finished with a double-double (18 kills, 10 digs) and led Hopkins to a 3-1 victory (26-24, 25-18, 19-25, 25-22) over Ursinus Saturday afternoon. Junior Megan Cohan added ten kills, and junior Kim Bronson had an impressive .583 hitting pct. (8 kills, 1 error, 12 attacks) to give Hopkins the edge.

The first set of the day proved to be the most intense, as Hopkins trailed late 19-13 with Ursinus pressing. The Jays slowly climbed back, cutting the lead to 23-21 before the Bears called a timeout. With the set on the line at 24-23, Hopkins rattled off three straight points to steal the opening game 26-24. The Blue Jays carried that momentum into the second set, racing to a 13-7 lead and holding as big as a 19-9 advantage. Ursinus continued to challenge, coming as close as 22-18 before Hopkins sealed the set victory 25-18.

The Bears would not go away easily, putting the Jays in an early 10-5 hole in the third set. Hopkins worked back to tie the set 13-13, but Ursinus pulled away before winning 25-19. The two sides were neck and neck again in the fourth set; with neither team able to pull ahead with the game tied 16-16. Sophomore Carolyn Zin gave the Blue Jays the boost they were looking for, serving two straight aces to take an 18-16 lead. Hopkins never trailed for the rest of the match, eventually winning 25-22 and earning the team's eighth victory of the season.

Johns Hopkins is now 8-7 on the season and 4-1 in the Centennial Conference. The Blue Jays will enter an extended hiatus the next few weeks, and will return to the court October 18 to face Haverford.
