BALTIMORE, MD - The Johns Hopkins men's swim team won 11 of 13 swimming events to defeat Marywood and host Loyola at the annual Thomas Murphy Invitational. With wins over the Pacers (270-93) and the Greyhounds (242-123), the Blue Jays improve to 3-0 on the season. Senior Anthony Lordi and freshmen Muhammad Hudhud and Scott Sterrett led the way for the Blue Jays with two individual wins apiece. Lordi also swam on the winning 200 Medley Relay team.

Day two started with the 200 Free Relay and the Blue Jay team of freshman Jeremy Bauchwitz, junior Ed Pagano, senior David Woodford and freshman Austin Bridges swam a time of 1:28.19 for second place. Hudhud then picked up the first of his two wins on the day as he took the top spot in the 400 IM with a time of 4:10.86, winning by more than eight seconds. Junior Ryan Cunningham placed third with a time of 4:19.52.

The Blue Jays followed with a sweep of first through third in the 100 Fly. Junior Greg Kogut led the field with a time of 51.37, to win by nearly two seconds over Woodford (53.30). Pagano placed third as he finished in 53.94. Hopkins did itself one better in the 200 Free by taking the top four spots. Lordi cruised to the win as he touched in 1:42.02. Junior Dylan Davis beat the field in the 100 Back with a winning time of 51.86 to best Loyola's Aidan O'Hara by 1.10 seconds. The Blue Jays then took second through sixth, led by freshman Patrick Flynn, who lost out on second place by just two-hundredths of a second (52.98). In the 100 Breast, Hopkins once again swept the top three spots, led by Sterrett with a winning time of 59.67. Hopkins added to its win total with first and third-place finishes in the 200 Medley Relay. Davis, Acquaviva, Woodford and Lordi swam a winning time of 1:35.46. Taking third place in 1:38.14 were junior Berkay Polat, Pon, Kogut and Bauchwitz.

The Blue Jays had their streak of seven straight wins snapped in the 200 Back, but they made up for it by taking second through fifth place. Davis led the way for the Jays with a time of 1:54.44, followed by Flynn in 1:57.35. Cunningham touched in 1:59.97 for fourth place, followed by Acquaviva in fifth in 2:00.00. Sterrett and Pon then combined to go one-two in the 200 Breast. Sterrett got to the wall first, winning in 2:12.65, and Pon followed in 2:15.31.

Hudhud and Kogut followed suit with first and second-place finishes, respectively, in the 200 Fly. Hudhud took the win in 1:55.30 and Kogut finished in 1:57.53. Hopkins closed out the meet with first and second-place finishes in the 400 Free Relay. Acquaviva, Kogut, Bauchwitz and Flynn combined to get the win in 3:10.85.
