JHU Downs Dickinson 72-47 in Centennial Opener

BALTIMORE, MD - Three Blue Jays finished in double figures, including sophomore Katie Clark who had a game-high 17 points and five assists, as Hopkins went on to beat Dickinson 72-47 Wednesday evening. Hopkins never trailed in the game, and held the Red Devils to 30.8% shooting to seal the victory. JHU improves to 2-1 on the season and 1-0 in the Centennial Conference, while Dickinson falls to 1-2 and 0-1 in the CC.

Junior center Ciara McCullagh got Hopkins off to a hot start, scoring eight of the team's first 12 buckets to give the Jays a 12-8 advantage early in the first half. The offense kept coming, as senior Fatu Conteh added nine points and Clark posted eight to give Hopkins a 38-16 lead at halftime.

After finishing with 10 turnovers in the first half, the Blue Jays tightened up the offense in the second only committing four while forcing 14 takeaways from the Red Devils. Hopkins produced a season high 20 steals in the contest, seven of which came from Clark - the most from a Hopkins player since 2010. McCullagh finished with a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds, while Conteh added 13 total points and shot a perfect 5-5 from the charity stripe.

Freshman guard Jennifer Smith and junior forward Liz Schultz led the Red Devils with 11 points a piece.

Hopkins will now welcome Ursinus to Goldfarb Gym on November 23 to play their second of three straight conference matchups. The Bears stand at 2-1 on the season, coming off a 51-33 victory over Gettysburg.
