BRYN MAWR, PA - The serving game and team defense proved to be crucial Saturday as the Blue Jays rolled to a 3-0 win over the host Bryn Mawr Owls.
Liz Wuerstle, who tallied 10 kills and hit .322 on the day, led the Blue Jays offensively. Ally Hirsch added seven kills of her own and hit .375. For the match the Jays played impressive defense, tallying eight block assists and five solo blocks. Kristi Rhead had five blocks of her own in the middle of the defense.
If the ball got past the front line, the Blue Jays defense was there, totaling 48 digs in the match. Erica Johnston led the team with 11 while Carolyn Zin added 10 of her own. The Jays held the Owls to a -.066 hitting percentage.
In the service game the Jays tallied nine aces in the match. Wuerstle led the way with six of her own. Meanwhile the Jays held the Owls to just three aces.
For the Owls Rachel Ofili led the way with seven kills and five solo blocks, while Danielle Preziuso dished out 13 assists and tallied nine digs.
The Blue Jays are next in action on Wednesday night as they travel to Westminster, MD, to face McDaniel. The match is scheduled to begin at 7:00 pm.
