Messiah Invitational Individual Results

BALTIMORE, MD - The Johns Hopkins wrestling team opened the 2014-15 season by competing at the Messiah Invitational on Saturday, November 1 and at the University of Maryland's Terrapin Duals on Sunday, November 2.

Competing with just three entries at Messiah, the Blue Jays earned 5.5 points and placed 9th in the nine-team tournament. At Maryland, the Blue Jays dropped three decisions against a pair of Division I teams (Maryland (49-0) and Davidson (47-6)) and one Division II team (Kutztown (44-6)).

At Messiah, freshmen Connor Mauriello (141) and Claudio Malicdem (149) and sophomore Kory Johnson (197) all went 1-2 on the day. Mauriello and Malicdem both picked up the first wins of their collegiate careers with Malicdem securing his first win by fall.

Johns Hopkins will return to action on Saturday, November 8 when the Blue Jays travel to Wilkes University for the John Reese Duals.
