GETTYSBURG, PA - The Johns Hopkins men's basketball team held host Gettysburg to just 52 points as the Blue Jays earned a 16-point win in Centennial Conference action Tuesday night at Bream Gymnasium. The Blue Jays beat the Bullets 68-52 as they improved to 4-2 overall and 2-1 in the CC. The Bullets have their three game win streak snapped as they fall to 4-2 on the season and 2-1 in the conference.

With the game tied at two early in the game, senior George Bugarinovic hit a bucket in the paint to spur the Blue Jays to an 8-2 run as they pushed out to a 10-4 lead at the 14:43-mark. The Bullets chipped away and got to within two after a three-point play from Kevin Gladstone at 10:06. Junior Matt Billups answered with a jumper that kick-started an 18-0 run that saw Hopkins' lead balloon to 20 just four minutes later. After back-to-back buckets by Billups and junior Gene Williams, the Blue Jays got a three-point play from sophomore Nikhil Panu and three straight threes from Williams and senior Jimmy Hammer.

Gettysburg wasn't going away, trailing 33-13, the Bullets trimmed the deficit down to 12 with 1:16 to play in the game. The Bullets, who turned the ball over four times on eight possessions during the Jays' run, got back into it with a combined 10 points from Mlynue Reeves and Gladstone. Leading 37-25 and with time winding down, junior Austin Vasiliadis drove the paint and hit a bucket off the glass and drew the foul. He sank his shot with three ticks on the clock to send Hopkins into the half with a 15-point lead.

Coming out of the locker room, Hopkins pushed out to a 21-point lead with 16:38 to go, led by Bugarinovic and sophomore Ryan Curran, who combined for eight points. Gettysburg got back within 16 points with a three from Joe Emerusabe and a layup from Sean Gordon. But a 9-2 Blue Jay run, with four different players scoring, saw the lead grow to 23 by the 11:34-mark. The Bullets would get no closer than 16 the rest of the way.

Bugarinovic led the Blue Jays with a game-high 13 points as he finished the game just two points shy of 1,000 for this career. He also had game highs of five steals and six rebounds. Williams was the only other Blue Jay to finish in double figures with 11 points. Hammer, who chipped in seven points, is also closing in on the 1,000-point milestone as he finished the game with 980 career points. Senior Omar Randall had eight points while also dishing three assists and grabbing a pair of steals. Hopkins shot 48.1 percent from the field for the game, including a 53.6 percent performance in the first half. Gladstone led the Bullets with 12 points, 10 of which came in the first half. Tanner Kirkpatrick and Gladstone had six rebounds apiece while the Bullets shot just 36.2 percent from the field.

Hopkins returns to action on Saturday, December 6 as the Blue Jays host the Muhlenberg Mules. Tip-off for the Centennial Conference matchup is set for 4:00 pm at Goldfarb Gym.
