? The Short Story: Host and 12th-ranked Princeton used a big second quarter and fourth quarters to pull away en route to a 15-8 win over the Johns Hopkins water polo team Friday night. The Blue Jays finish their league schedule with a 4-4 mark as they lose the season series to the Tigers.
How it Happened
? It was a low-scoring first quarter as the teams combined for just four goals and were tied 2-2 after eight minutes.
? Princeton jumped out to a 7-2 lead in the second quarter, scoring five unanswered. Hopkins got one back before the half, to cut the deficit to four.
? The third quarter was much the same as the first as each team scored three times and the Tigers led 10-6 heading into the final quarter.
? Just as the third quarter was nearly identical to the first, so was the fourth to the second. Princeton came out firing in the final eight minutes, outscoring Hopkins 5-2 to close out the win.
What it Means
? With eight points and four wins, Johns Hopkins is currently in a four-way tie for first place in the CWPA Southern Division, East Region. JHU is the only team that has finished its league schedule, however.
