BALTIMORE, MD - The Johns Hopkins volleyball team dropped a tough, four-set match to McDaniel on Wednesday night in Goldfarb Gymnasium. Despite the loss, the Blue Jays (10-10, 6-2 CC) clinched a postseason berth Wednesday and qualified for the 2015 Centennial Conference tournament, which will be held next week.
How it Happened:
- McDaniel raced out to a face start, leading by as many as six at 8-2 early. The Blue Jays bounced back, however, tying the opening set at 12 and leading at 13-12. Both squads went back and forth until the Green Terror broke a 22-22 tie with three straight points, ultimately clinching the match on a Hopkins attack error.
- The second set was also close throughout. Hopkins jumped out to an early lead and led by as many as five at one point (15-10). McDaniel was able to tally six straight to take the lead and closed the set on a kill from Kloe Martin.
- Hopkins controlled the third set from the beginning. The Blue Jays lead by as many as seven (24-17) and clinched the set when Grace Haselhorst and Ali Cox blocked a Green Terror attack attempt.
- The fourth game was tight throughout. Hopkins took a 10-7 advantage early but McDaniel tied it at 13 apiece. The Lady Jays went up 23-19 and appeared to have the set under control, but the Green Terror scored eight of the final 10 points to win the set 27-25 and the match 3-1.
Who Led the Way:
- Martin and Corral combined for 26 kills to lead the Green Terror.
- Erica Johnston had one of her best games of the season, tallying 21 digs and 13 kills.
- Kristi Rhead collected a match-best 32 assists, totaling 30-plus for the second consecutive night.
- Colette Kellen and Maddie Moyer combined for 38 assists for McDaniel

Hopkins returns to action Friday night when it heads to Bryn Mawr for another Centennial Conference match. First serve is scheduled for 7:00 pm in Bryn Mawr, PA.
