BALTIMORE, MD- Alaina Arthur got the Johns Hopkins women's soccer team on the board first Saturday, but Swarthmore came back with two goals to defeat the Blue Jays 2-1 at Homewood Field. The loss dropped JHU to 6-3-1 on the season and 2-1 in Centennial Conference play. Swarthmore remains undefeated at 9-0-0 overall and 3-0-0 in the CC. Arthur's tally was the first goal give up by the Garnet this fall.
The Goals:
- Arthur scored in the fifth minute to put Hopkins up 1-0. The senior finished a pass from Kristen Hori just inside the right post.
- Swarthmore got the equalizer seconds before halftime when Sarah Hancock struck with a one-timer.
- The Garnet took the lead in the 53rd minute on a goal from the top of the box off the foot of Katherine Zavez.
Inside the Box Score:
- Hopkins outshot Swarthmore 15-12 in the contest.
- Issy Berkey led the Blue Jays with four shots.
- JHU goalkeeper Clara Aranguren made seven saves in defeat.
- Hannah Lichtenstein had five shots to lead the Garnet.
- Reba Magier made four saves to earn her ninth win of the season.
