Gettysburg, PA -- The Johns Hopkins women's soccer team fell in double overtime to host Gettysburg Saturday. Both teams scored regulation goals on penalty kicks before the Bullets won the game in double overtime. Hopkins had already cemented the #2 seed before the game started and will face #3 McDaniel next Saturday at Swarthmore.
The Goals:
- Lauren Shapiro put Gettysburg on the scoreboard first, connecting on a penalty kick in the 15th minute.
- With less than four minute remaining in regulation the Blue Jays received a penalty kick and Issy Berkey connected, knotting the game at one apiece.
- Gettysburg broke the tie in the 107th minute when Krissy Bradley scored on a header.
Inside the Box Score:
- Hopkins outshot the Bullets 12-7.
- Maryalice McKenna led the Jays with three shots.
- JHU goalkeeper Clara Aranguren made three saves in defeat.
Who's Up Next?:
Hopkins will be back in action next weekend when it heads to Swarthmore for the Centennial Conference tournament. The Blue Jays will face #3 McDaniel in the semifinals, 11 days after defeating the Green Terror in double overtime at Homewood Field.
