ATLANTA, GA - The Johns Hopkins volleyball team (2-5) completed the first day of the Emory Classic with a pair of losses, falling to Birmingham Southern and #1 Emory on Friday. JHU dropped a five-set match to BSC and then was defeated by the top-ranked host in straight sets.
Against #1 Emory: JHU fell in straight sets to the nation's top-ranked squad (25-20, 25-12, 25-11). The Blue Jays played their best in the opening set when Erica Johnston and Elizabeth Wuerstle each had three kills. Carolyn Zin finished the opening frame with a team-best five assists.
Inside the Box Score:
- Elizabeth Wuerstle led the squad with seven kills in the match against Emory.
- Stephanie Yokoyama had 12 digs in defeat against the host Eagles.
- Yokoyama served up three aces, as well.
Who's Up Next?: The Blue Jays finish up play at the Emory Classic with a pair of matches tomorrow. Hopkins is slated to play Covenant at 11:00am followed by a 3:00 match against Piedmont.
