HAVERFORD, PA- The Johns Hopkins volleyball team won its third consecutive Centennial Conference match, defeating preseason favorite Haverford 3-1, on the road. With the victory, the Blue Jays improved to 7-8 on the season and stayed unbeaten in Centennial play at 3-0.
How it Happened:
- With the score knotted at 13-13 in the first set, Hopkins was able to score the next seven points to take a 20-13 lead. JHU held on to win 25-20, clinching the set on a Haverford attack error.
- The Blue Jays dominated the second set, leading by as many as eight at one point. JHU clinched the set on a Haverford service error and took a 2-0 lead into the third set.
- The Fords showed resiliency, taking the third set 25-22, winning the set on a kill from Meg O'Day.
- JHU was able to win the match with a decisive 25-16 fourth set victory. The Blue Jays led by as many as ten and won the set on a Haverford attack error.
Inside the Box Score:
- Erica Johnston tallied a match-high 21 kills to go along with 17 digs.
- Carolyn Zin also had an impressive evening for the Blue Jays, collecting match-highs in assists (39) and digs (24).
- JHU finished the evening with five service aces, while the Fords had just two.
Who's Up Next?: Hopkins returns to action Saturday, when it hosts Swarthmore in Goldfarb Gymnasium. First serve is scheduled for 1:00 pm.
