• The Short Story: The Johns Hopkins water polo team got hat tricks from four different players en route to a 19-5 win over Cal Lutheran at the Navy Labor Day Open Saturday night. Seniors Langdon Froomer and Blake Range each tallied five points to lead JHU. The Blue Jays are now 2-0 to start the season.
How it Happened
• The Blue Jays scored the game's first eight goals as they held the Kingsmen scoreless for nearly 12 minutes. Senior Langdon Froomer and freshman Andreas Katsis combined to score five of Hopkins' eight goals during the run.
• Cal Lutheran got on the board with 4:07 to play in the second quarter, but Hopkins responded with five straight goals to go up 13-1 midway through the third quarter. Froomer's game-high fourth goal of the game staked Hopkins to the 12-goal lead.
• The Kingsmen got their second goal of the match with 2:40 to go in the third. But the Blue Jays answered just 40 seconds later with a goal from senior Blake Range, sparking a six-goal Hopkins' run.
• Cal Lutheran scored the final three goals of the night, in the final two minutes, to account for the 19-5 final.
What it Means
• Johns Hopkins is now 4-1 all-time versus Cal Lutheran and earned its first win in the series since October 2, 2009. The 14-goal differential is the largest win in the series, by 11 goals.
• Hopkins has outscored its opponents 39-14 in the first two matches of the season.
• The Blue Jays are 2-0 to start the season for the fourth time in the last five seasons.

• Seniors Langdom Froomer (4g, 1a) and Blake Range (3g, 2a) led the Blue Jays with five points each. Senior Kevin Yee (3g, 1a) and sophomore Jono Gillette (3g, 1a) also had hat tricks for the Blue Jays.
