The Short Story: The Johns Hopkins women's basketball team fell, 72-58, to Centennial Conference leader Dickinson Saturday in Goldfarb Gym. Sophomore Lillian Scott led the Blue Jays with 15 points and a career-high five steals.

How it Happened
• Senior Caroline Corcoran nailed a three-pointer to open the scoring for Hopkins and giving the Blue Jays their only lead of the game. The Red Devils outscored Hopkins 10-6 in the final 4:05 of the opening quarter for a 18-13 lead heading into the second quarter. Rachel Cook was the only Blue Jay to score during the run and led JHU with six points in the first quarter. Lexie Scholtz handed out five assists in the first quarter and snagged four rebounds.
• The Red Devils outscored the Blue Jays, 23-13, scoring the final seven points of the first half for a 41-26 lead at the break. Five different JHU players scored in the period, including Marissa Varnado, who added a three-pointer and jumper as the only Blue Jay to make two baskets in the quarter. Maggie Wodicka also scored a three-pointer in the quarter.
• At halftime, Dickinson shot 16-of-31 from the field, including 6-of-12 from behind the three-point arc. The Blue Jays shot 11-of-37 in the first half and 3-of-13 from behind the arc. Cook led Hopkins with eight points in the opening half, while Scholtz dished out six assists and recorded five rebounds in the first half.
• The Blue Jays and Red Devils played to an even 16-16 score in the third quarter. Dickinson extended its lead to a game-best 57-37 lead before Hopkins scored five points in the final 1:25 of the quarter to cut the deficit to 57-42 after three quarters. Rory Cole led the Blue Jays with six points in the third quarter and added five rebounds, while Corcoran and Madison McGrath each recorded four points in the quarter.
• Hopkins carried its momentum into the fourth quarter, outscoring Dickinson in the final quarter, 16-15. Scott tallied 10 points in the final frame, shooting 3-of-5 from the field and 1-of-2 from behind the three-point arc. Scholtz also added four points and two assists to close out the game.
• The Blue Jays finished the game 21-of-71 from the field and 5-of-26 from behind the three-point arc. Dickinson, on the other hand, shot 26-of-52 and 9-of-19 from the three. The teams each pulled down 40 rebounds and handed out 14 assists in the game.

Inside the Box Score
• The Red Devils recorded 14 turnovers in the game, while the Blue Jays turned the ball over only nine times. Hopkins also tallied more steals than Dickinson, with eight, including a career-high five steals by Lillian Scott.

• Scott also led the Blue Jays with 15 points, reaching double-digits for the eighth time this season.
Rory Cole pulled down a career-high seven offensive rebounds, increasing her total on the season to 38, the most in the Centennial Conference.
Lexie Scholtz tallied a career-high in assists with nine, including five in the first quarter.

What it Means
• With the loss, Hopkins holds a 44-28 all-time record against the Red Devils. This is just the 18th win for Dickinson against the Blue Jays under head coach Nancy Funk.
• Hopkins sits at 3-3 in the Centennial Conference, while Dickinson remains undefeated in conference play.
