Hopkins Wins Season Finale at Washington, 76-55

CHESTERTOWN, MD- The Johns Hopkins women's basketball team closed the 2015-16 season with a win Saturday afternoon, defeating Washington College 76-55 on the road.

The victory was the 650th of Nancy Funk's career. Funk, who has 524 wins at Johns Hopkins, is the 37th NCAA women's basketball coach to reach the milestone.

Rachel Cook led the way for Hopkins with a career-high- tying 16 points. Cook was joined in double figures by Liz Tommasi and Lillian Scott, who scored 12 and 10, respectively.

Scott came off the bench to score eight of her 10 points in the first quarter and help the Jays jump out to a 21-15 lead after 10 minutes of play. JHU extended its lead to 34-24 at halftime.

Cook scored seven straight for Hopkins in the third quarter and helped the Blue Jays open up their lead to 41-24 less than four minutes into the period. The junior was extremely efficient from the floor, successfully hitting seven of nine shots in the contest.

The Jays put the game away with a 12-2 run early in the final quarter and coasted to the 21-point victory.

Katie Clark led Hopkins on the boards from her guard positon, collecting a career-high 13 rebounds in her 101st, and final, game in a Johns Hopkins uniform.

The Blue Jays finish the season with a 12-13 record, including a 9-9 mark in Centennial Conference action.

NOTES: The senior class of Clark, Tommasi, Scarlett McCracken and Beatriz Williams conclude their four-years as a Blue Jay with an impressive 62-41 record…Clark and Williams were the only members of the squad to start all 25 games this season…13 different Blue Jays scored in the victory…Clark's previous career high in rebounds was 10, set at McDaniel on February 10...Tommasi tallied a career-best seven assists.
