BALTIMORE, MD -The Johns Hopkins women's basketball team defeated Bryn Mawr, 87-29, Thursday night in Goldfarb Gymnasium. Hopkins improved to 9-10 on the season, while Bryn Mawr dropped to 3-15.

Hopkins scored the first 11 points of the contest and never looked back. Liz Tommasi tallied five of her 11 points in the first quarter to help the Blue Jays race out to a 19-9 advantage after the opening period.

JHU put the game away in the second quarter when it outscored the Owls 27-4 to take a 46-13 lead into halftime. Hopkins scored 21 consecutive points over a seven-minute span in the quarter and Rachel Cook, Marissa Varnado and Beatriz Williams each scored six in the frame.

The Blue Jays continued to play great offense in the second half, en route to a season-best 87 points, eclipsing the previous mark (75) set in their season-opening win against Pitt-Bradford.

Tommasi and Caroline Corcoran led the Jays with 11 points apiece, while Rory Cole collected a team-best six rebounds and Lexie Scholtz led the squad with six assists to go along with nine points.

Hopkins returns to Centennial action Saturday when it begins a tough, two-game road stretch against the conference's two best teams. The Blue Jays will head to Allentown, PA Saturday to take on first-place Muhlenberg, tipoff in Memorial Hall is slated for 2:00 pm.
