The Short Story: Twelve players scored to lead the 19th-ranked Johns Hopkins women's lacrosse to a 17-3 win over Furman Saturday afternoon. Sophomore Shannon Fitzgerald led the way with three goals and four points.

How it Happened
• Johns Hopkins scored the game's first 12 goals of the game, led by sophomore Shannon Fitzgerald who completed her hat trick before the first half was over. Senior Dene' DiMartino opened the scoring 1:28 into the game with a free position goal. Fitzgerald doubled the Blue Jays' lead just 11 seconds later with a free position goal of her own.
• Senior Jenna Reifler scored consecutive goals in a 63-second span to stake Hopkins to a 5-0 lead.
• The Paladins got on the board at the 26:50-mark in the second half with a goal Devon Horine, ending the Jays' 12-goal run. Sophomore Emily Kenul and freshman Nicole DeMase answered with back-to-back goals and Hopkins' lead was 14-1.
• Paige Gamble and Horine then sandwiched goals around a strike from sophomore Caroline Shinske to make it 15-3 Blue Jays. Shinske and classmate Chloe Duke closed out the scoring with goals at 11:11 and 3:26 to account for the 17-3 final.

What it Means
• Johns Hopkins improves to 2-0 all-time versus Furman and 20-6 at Homewood Field since the start of the 2014 season. The Blue Jays held the Paladins scoreless for the first 33:10, the first time the Jays have held an opponent scoreless for a half since a 17-2 win over Mount St. Mary's on February 19, 2014.
• Senior Dene' DiMartino scored a pair of goals, including the 150th of her career, and extended her point and goal-scoring streaks to 46 and 38 games, respectively. Her goal-scoring streak is tied for the longest in school Division I history. She also controlled eight draws and is now just eight short of tying Taylor D'Amore for first in school history.
• Junior Haley Schweizer scored and pushed her goal-scoring streak to 22 games.
• In all, 12 players scored and 16 totaled at least one point for the Blue Jays. Freshman Nicole DeMase (1g, 2a), sophomore Maggie Friel (1g, 1a), freshman Holly Logan (1a) and sophomore Caroline Shinske (2g) are had career highs in points. Freshman Haley Crosson saw her first action in the cage and made three saves in 22:11.
