The Basics
• Score: Johns Hopkins-63, Haverford-31
• Records: JHU (9-6, 5-3 CC) • HC (2-12, 1-7 CC)
• Location: Haverford, PA • Gooding '84 Arena
• The Short Story: The Johns Hopkins men's basketball team held host Haverford to just 26.9 percent shooting en route to a 63-31 win Saturday afternoon. Senior Ryan Curran scored a game-high 17 points as 10 different players scored for the Blue Jays.

How it Happened
• This one was close early as the teams traded bucket over the opening five minutes. Leading 8-6, Curran hit a layup at 13:03 to kick-start an 11-2 run that spanned nearly five minutes. Curran bookended the run, that saw the Blue Jays go up 19-8, and scored eight of the 11 points.
• Back-to-back buckets by Kyle Goldfarb trimmed the Blue Jays' lead to seven with 5:53 to play in the first half. Sophomore Michael Gardner drained a jumper on the other end to start another Hopkins' run as the visitors went up 28-14 with 56 seconds remaining. This one saw four different players contribute.
• Grayson Roth had the final say of the half, stealing an errant pass and scoring at the buzzer for the Fords to make it 28-16 at the half. Matt Sherman nailed a deep three to open the second-half scoring and make it a nine-point game just 17 seconds in.
• Sophomore Daniel Vila hit one of two free throws at the 17:54-mark to push the lead back to double-digits. It was all Hopkins for the next 16:16 as the Blue Jays outscored the Fords 35-6 during that span. The scoring was spread around as eight different Blue Jays during the run.
• Haverford would close the game on a 6-3 spurt in the final 81 seconds to account for the 63-31 final.

What it Means
• Hopkins improves to 72-37 all-time against Haverford and has won 11 straight in the series. The Blue Jays have won six straight at Gooding '84 Arena.
• Gooding '84 Arena is located inside the Douglas B. Gardner '83 Integrated Athletic Center (GIAC). The GIAC is named after Michael Gardner's father, who passed away in the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001.
• Head coach Bill Nelson earned his 599th career win this afternoon and his 494th at Hopkins. He is looking to become the 18th coach in Division III history to win 600 games.

Inside the Box Score
• Curran led all scorers with 17 points, to go with seven boards, three assists and two steals. Gardner added 12 points, going 5-of-7 from the field and 2-of-2 from downtown. Gordon chipped in 10 points and tied for the team-high with seven rebounds.
• Vila grabbed five rebounds, handed out three assists and had a game-high four blocks.
• Goldfarb led the Fords with eight points while Sam Stogdon pulled a game-high 10 rebounds.

For the Record
• The 31 points are the fewest Hopkins has allowed since the shot clock was introduced in 1985. The previous mark was 34, in a 70-34 win at Haverford on February 7, 1998.
• This is the third time this season that Hopkins has won by 32 or more points.
