• The Short Story: The Johns Hopkins women's basketball team fell to Muhlenberg, 70-63, Saturday in Goldfarb Gym after the Mules mounted a fourth-quarter comeback. Lillian Scott scored 17 points and Caroline Corcoran added 13 for the Blue Jays.
How it Happened
• Caroline Corcoran started strong for Hopkins, kicking off the scoring in the game. Muhlenberg quickly tied it up, 2-2, to set the pace for the back-and-forth first quarter. The teams fought through three more ties in the first 5:26 before the Mules worked out to a 23-18 lead. Corcoran drained a three-pointer to cut Muhlenberg's lead to 23-21 after the first quarter.
• The Blue Jays continued their high-scoring offense in the second quarter, gaining a quick lead, 24-23, off a three-pointer by Lillian Scott. The Mules responded, regaining the lead after six unanswered points, 29-26. A Janay Smith free throw and another trey from Scott returned the lead to Hopkins, 30-29, with 4:47 to play before halftime. The Blue Jays outscored Muhlenberg 9-1 in the final 2:42 to extend their lead to 39-33 at the break.
• The Blue Jays carried the momentum out of halftime, scoring the first eight points in a run sealed by a three-pointer from Scott. Lexie Scholtz hit a three-pointer with 5:52 remaining in the third quarter to give Hopkins its largest lead of the game, 50-35. The Mules countered with a three-pointer of their own, and the teams traded baskets to close out the quarter with the score of 58-45.
• JHU struggled in the fourth quarter, scoring only five points in its effort. The Mules countered the 14-point deficit they faced heading into the final 10:00 as they took advantage of Hopkins turnovers and offensive rebounds, scoring nine points off turnovers and six second-chance points. Muhlenberg chipped away at the Blue Jays' lead before tying the score, 62-62, with 2:20 remaining in the game. The Mules outscored Hopkins 8-1 down the stretch to earn the victory, 70-63.
• Three Blue Jays reached double-figures in the game: Scott (17), Corcoran (13) and Scholtz (10). Each also scored at least one three-pointer in the match along with Madison McGrath. Corcoran and Rory Cole pulled down seven rebounds apiece, while Scholtz, Scott and McGrath each dished out three assists in the game.

• Hopkins had the hot hand in the first three quarters. The Blue Jays shot 8-of-16 from the field and 3-of-6 from behind the three-point arc in the opening quarter. JHU followed that up by shooting 7-of-20 in the second quarter and 6-of-15 from the third quarter from the field, and from the three-point range the Blue Jays shot 3-of-8 in the second quarter and 2-of-5 in the third.
• Johns Hopkins took advantage of Muhlenberg's turnovers, scoring 17 points off turnovers. The Blue Jays and Mules suffered the same number of turnovers, and the teams each earned six steals in the contest.
• Lillian Scott scored at least 17 points for the seventh time this season. Her 17 points were tied for the most by a player in the game.
What it Means
• Teams are now even in the all-time series, 25-25. Muhlenberg has come out on top in each of the past six meetings, including picking up a pair of wins this season.
• Hopkins falls back below .500 in the Centennial Conference, sitting at 5-6 in conference play.
