• The Short Story: Trailing by one with 1:07 remaining Sophia Way nailed a three to put the Johns Hopkins women's basketball team up by two as the Blue Jays held on to defeat Dickinson 59-53 on Saturday afternoon.

How it Happened
• JHU went up by nine in the second quarter but the Red Devils went on a 6-0 run to make the score 19-16. A jumper by Emily Padalino at 4:53 tied the game at 21. Lexie Scholtz regained the lead for Hopkins, but Hannah Heiring tied the game right back up with 3:45 left in the half. With 1:39 left in the half Madison McGrath hit a three to break a 26-26 tie, but a layup by Kassidy Lesher cut the Johns Hopkins' lead to one, and the teams would go into halftime with JHU leading 26-25.
• The Blue Jays opened the second half on an 8-0 run to take a 33-25 lead but Dickinson got the lead down to two with 35 seconds left in the quarter. Maggie Wodicka made a layup with 20 seconds left to send Hopkins into the fourth and final quarter leading 38-34.
• Halle Maeda hit a three to bring the home team to within one at 44-43 in the final quarter, but Way responded with a three of her own to make the Hopkins' lead 47-43.
• With 2:18 remaining, Kassidy Lesher hit a layup to bring Dickinson back to within one at 52-51. Two free throws by Lauren McBride gave the Red Devils their second lead of the game, but the lead was short-lived as Way nailed a three 1:07 left to put the Blue Jays up two at 55-53 as JHU went on to claim the game by a final score of 59-53.

What it Means
• JHU is now 46-28 against the Red Devils and has won the past two meetings.
• The Blue Jays enter the break with a 5-4 record and are currently 4-2 in conference play.

• Way finished with a game-high 16 points. She also grabbed seven rebounds and has two blocks in the game.
• Scholtz finished with 14 points while Scott added 13 points and seven boards.
Rory Cole grabbed a team-high 13 rebounds including ten on the defensive side.

• The Blue Jays will take some time off for the winter break before returning to action on December 30 as they will travel to Randolph-Macon for a 7 pm contest.
