The Basics
• Score: Johns Hopkins-2, Goucher-0
• Records: JHU (1-0-0) • GC (0-1-0)
• Location: Baltimore, MD • Homewood Field
• The Short Story: Sophomore Achim Younker scored a pair of goals and senior Bryan See made five saves as the Johns Hopkins men's soccer team beat visiting Goucher, 2-0, in both teams' season openers Friday night at Homewood Field.
How it Happened
• Hopkins controlled much of the play but it took until the 69th minute for the Blue Jays to get on the board. Sophomore Connor Jacobs carried the ball up the left flank and dribbled in before crossing the ball. Younker ran onto the ball and one-touched it inside the right post from just a few yards out.
• The constant Blue Jay pressure paid off in the 88th minute as Younker beat the Gophers' Daniel Hendry for the second time. Senior Jonah Muniz slipped a pass to Younker just inside the box and he slotted the ball into the lower left corner.
What it Means
• Johns Hopkins improves to 8-0-2 all-time against Goucher, including 5-0-1 at Homewood Field.
