? The Short Story: The Johns Hopkins water polo team picked up a pair of wins on Saturday at the Bucknell Invitational to improve to 7-2 on the season. Hopkins opened with a 16-12 win over Gannon and followed with a 13-6 win over Toronto.

How it Happened versus Gannon
? Hopkins found itself trailing seven times in the first half, but battled back each time to tie the score. After a tight first half that saw Gannon leading, 7-6, at the break, the second half was a different story. The Blue Jays would outscore the Golden Knights, 10-5, in the second to earn the win.
? Trailing 8-6 just two minutes into the third quarter, sophomore Finn Banks sandwiched a pair of goals around a Gannon strike to make it 9-8 with 4:47 to go. Junior Josh Kurtz then scored at the 2:43-mark to tie the game, for the sixth time. Junior Andreas Katsis put Hopkins on top for the first time in the match with 1:19 to play in the quarter. Freshman Olin Shipstead pushed that lead to two just 26 seconds later.
? The Golden Knights opened the fourth quarter scoring 32 seconds in to cut the Blue Jays' lead in half. Hopkins answered with four straight goals in a four-minute span to storm out to a 15-10 lead. Gannon would outscore Hopkins, 2-1, in the final 82 seconds but it wasn't enough.

How it Happened versus Toronto
? Johns Hopkins jumped out to a 3-0 lead with first quarter goals from junior Ryan Masi, Kurtz and junior Giorgio Cico.
? Toronto struck first in the second quarter, making it a 3-1 game just 1:16 in. But Hopkins answered with back-to-back goals from freshman John Murphy and Kurtz to push out to a 5-1 lead. Evan Price had the final say of the half however, scoring with 1:01 to play to make it a 5-2 game at the break.
? The Blue Jays came out firing to start the third quarter, getting three goals in an 85-second span to push out to an 8-2 lead. Senior Jono Gillette, Katsis and Banks accounted for the three goals. The Varsity Blues kept battling and answered with a three-goal run of their own to make it an 8-5 game at the end of three.
? It was all Hopkins in the fourth quarter as it outscored Toronto, 5-1, in the final eight minutes to account for the 13-6 final.

What it Means
? Hopkins improves to 13-0 against Gannon and 3-0 versus Toronto.
? Head coach Ted Bresnahan now has 396 career wins with the Blue Jays, leaving him just four shy of the 400-mark.

Inside the Box Score versus Gannon
? Banks led the Blue Jays with four goals while Kurtz had three goals and five points. Katsis also had a hat trick for Hopkins.
? Senior John Wilson finished with 13 saves and three steals in the win.

? Cico paced the offense with two goals and four assists to go with three steals. Kurtz posted his second straight three-goal, two-assist performance.
