Box Score Sept. 20, 2017

Box Score

The Basics
• Score: #16 Johns Hopkins-5, Neumann-0
• Records: JHU (6-0-0) • NU (2-3-0)
• Location: Baltimore, MD • Homewood Field
• The Short Story: The 16th-ranked Johns Hopkins men's soccer team got goals from four different players in a 5-0 win over visiting Neumann Wednesday night.

How it Happened
• Senior Mike Swiercz staked the Blue Jays to an early 1-0 lead when he converted a penalty kick in the 13th minute. Almost exactly four minutes later, Hopkins took a 2-0 lead on freshman Jonathon Brown's goal. Senior Jonah Muniz crossed the ball from the right end line and it was headed on by freshman RJ Moore. Brown then used his chest to deflect the ball in at the near post.
• Sophomore Achim Younker pushed the lead to three in the 25th minute with his team-leading ninth of the season. Freshman Alejandro Maclean played a long ball over the top of the defense to Younker, who chipped it over Knights' goalie Perry Corsetti from seven yards out.
• Hopkins didn't waste any time in the second half as Younker got his second goal just 36 seconds in. Younker took a pass from Cole Rosenberger, split a pair of defenders and then ripped a shot from the top of the box past the outstretched hands of Corsetti.
• Junior Max Song capped the scoring in the 72nd minute with the Blue Jays' second penalty kick goal of the game.

• Song's goal in the second half was the first of his career. Moore and Muniz lead the Blue Jays with five assists each.
• All thee Blue Jay goalies played in the game with senior Bryan See getting the win. He finished with three saves in 63 minutes of action. Freshman Xander LeFevre and junior Jeremy Ratcliff combined for the remaining 27 minutes and did not face a shot on goal.
• Hopkins outshot Neumann, 26-6, and had a 7-1 advantage in corners. The Blue Jays had a man advantage from the 36th minute on after a Knights' red card.
