• The Short Story: Sophomore Achim Younker accounted for all three of his team's goals as the Johns Hopkins men's soccer team beat host Frostburg State, 3-0, on Wednesday night.
How it Happened
• Hopkins jumped on top of Frostburg and took the lead, for good as it turned out, in the 19th minute. Younker blasted a low shot that went right through the hands of Bobcat keeper Jackson Bicknell.
• JHU maintained the pressure and cashed in again in the 50th minute to double its lead. Sophomore Connor Jacobs crossed the ball from the end line to Younker, who buried a left-footed shoot into the lower right corner.
• Younker completed his hat trick in the 74th minute, staking the Blue Jays to a 3-0 lead. Freshman RJ Moore sprung Younker on a counter attack and he beat Bicknell one-on-one.
What it Means
• Hopkins improves to 7-0-0 all-time against Frostburg State and has outscored the Bobcats, 22-4. JHU has shutout FSU in each of the last four meetings.
Inside the Box Score
• Younker scored his first career hat trick on just four shots. Moore's assist is the first point of his career.
• Senior Bryan See made three saves before giving way to freshman Xander LaFevre in the 83rd minute. LaFevre was not forced to make a save.
• Bicknell finished with eight saves in the loss for the Bobcats.
• Hopkins outshot Frostburg, 18-4, while FSU had more corners (6-4).
For the Record
• Younker's hat trick is the first by a Blue Jay since Scott Bukoski turned the trick on September 4, 2009 against Buffalo State. That was also a 3-0 win for the Blue Jays. Just two games into the season, Younker has surpassed his goal total from a year ago (3).
