The Short Story: The Johns Hopkins women's fencing team went 2-2 at the Philadelphia Invitational as the Blue Jays topped Haverford and NJIT and fell to Duke and North Carolina.

How it Happened
• Johns Hopkins opened its day with a strong 19-8 win over Haverford as the Blue Jays won all three weapons. A 7-2 margin in Sabre was fueled by a 3-0 mark from Erin Chen, while Shiaomeng Tse and Rebecca Zhou both went 2-1. The Foil and Epee squads both won by 6-3 margins to account for the 19-8 final score. Brooke Stanicki went 3-0 in the foil, while Shaina Morris was a perfect 3-0 in the Epee.
• A strong Duke squad swept the Epee and won 7-2 in both the Foil and Sabre to pace the 25-4 victory. Rebecca Rosenthal accounted for both Johns Hopkins wins in the Foil and Chen grabbed both wins in Sabre.
• North Carolina handed the Blue Jays a 16-11 setback in the next round. The Sabre squad again led the way for Johns Hopkins with a 5-4 win. Chen scored three of the five victories for the Blue Jays in the Sabre, while Stanicki won twice in the Foil.
• The Blue Jays closed the day with a 16-11 victory over NJIT. A dominating 8-1 win in Sabre led the way for Johns Hopkins, which dropped tight 5-4 decisions in Epee and Foil. Tse and Zhou both went 3-0 in Sabre, while Morris picked up a pair of wins in Epee.
