The Short Story: The Johns Hopkins women's swim team earned their first dual win of the season, defeating NYU Saturday afternoon in its home opener.

Top Finishers
• Johns Hopkins took the top spot in each of the first seven races, headlined by sophomore
Emma McElrath's first place finish in the 1000 Freestyle. McElrath's time of 10:22.14 edged NYU's Rachel Reistroffer by less than .2 seconds, and was also good for the second best time in school history.
• Freshman
Sydney Okubo opened her career at the Newton White Aquatic with a perfect 4-for-4 slate.
Okubo won all three of her individual races with wins in the 100 Back (56.73) and 200 Back (2:03.21). She followed that by topping the 200 IM field with a time of 2:06.79.
• Hopkins swept both relays on the afternoon. Okubo, along with fellow freshman

Alison Shapiro opened the day with a win in the 400 Medley Relay (3:51.95). Shapiro then teamed with freshman
Kristen Alicea-Jorgensen, sophomore
Mikayla Bisignani and junior Kiki Peterson to pace the 200 Freestyle Relay by nearly three seconds with a winning time of 1:38.58.

Up Next
• Johns Hopkins will have the next two weeks off before returning to the pool at the end of the month. The Jays will travel to Providence, R.I. for the Bruno Invite. The three-day meet kicks off on Friday, Nov. 30.
